Doing an engagement session can be a great way to get to know your photographer, especially if you are from out town. Jill Person, of Person + Killian Photography, states that "we really encourage all of our couples to come in for an engagement shoot. It eases the nerves for those who are not necessarily comfortable in front of the camera and allows them to see how we shoot and interact. This way there is one less thing for the couple to be thinking about on the wedding day. We also love engagement sessions since it gives you a chance to get to know each other. A lot of the time we do not meet both members of the couple in the initial consultation and often book clients over the phone from NY etc. The shoot really gives us a chance to spend some time with the couple."
