Person + Killian Photography receives an over whelming amount of emails from aspiring photographers who want to learn from us. We are so flattered to hear that others admire our work and want to find out how we got started.

For us, first we built a knowledge and core understanding of photography, and then worked with and learned from other photographers.

For Lauren, The New England School Of Photography was her core place of knowledge. So when they approached her last fall and asked if she would be willing to tell her story for the Alumni section of their school brochure, she of course said YES!

After the ceremony, formal photos were taken at the Commonwealth Avenue Mall, which was illuminated by the white lights lining the Back Bay. Cocktail hour and an elegant dinner were followed by a night of dancing at Locke-Ober in downtown Boston.

Boston Youth Moves (BYM) is a non-profit pre-professional dance-training program for teens in the Greater Boston Area. The Mission of BYM is to encourage young people, through training in the art of dance, to explore their limitless potential.

The students were individually photographed and asked to provide a few words about what the organization has done for them. Each student will represent a table at the gala with their picture along with their quote.

Here are just a few of the images along with the invite to Swellegance 2010. This year, BYM will be honoring Tony Award winner and Broadway star, Tommy Tune.  For more information on the organization or to purchase tickets for this great event, visit Boston Youth Moves.

Person + Killian Photography is excited to announce that SMUG is coming to Boston, and we are honored to be appointed the Boston SMUG Leaders. As business owners we are always looking for new resources to make our lives easier! SmugMug is the ultimate in photo & video sharing. You can easily create online photo albums, share, store, organize and print all your images.

So what exactly is a SMUG? It is a place where you can learn, teach and meet up with other photographers who share your passion. SMUGs are a great way to connect with other photographers and add a few weapons to your creative arsenal.

The Boston SMUG will be held the 2nd Thursday of each month at Hunt's Photo & Video, in Melrose. Each meeting will be filled with networking and learning. The meetings are free and open to everyone. The "Pre-Wedding" Wedding Party with Darcy Miller, an editor at Martha Stewart Weddings Magazine, was co-sponsored by Southern New England Weddings and the Boston Wedding Group. The evening was certainly a success and a lot of fun to Photograph! The Room was filled with the talented work of event décor and floral designer Dana Markos, who created beautiful table design ideas for all seasons and styles.

Beantown Bride, is a resource for brides-to-be planning luxury weddings in and around Boston.This fantastic site is filled with tips and trends to help brides and grooms create beautiful events that represent their style as a couple.

While Beantown is littered with luxury hotels, Marsha Epstein, 29, a business analyst, and fiancé Brian Woldow, 32, a lawyer, put their mid-June wedding deposit down on the not-yet-opened Mandarin Oriental on Boston's illustrious Boylston Street. "It is one of our favorite line of hotels, is known for its exceptional service, and everything would be practically brand new for our wedding,' noted Marsha." "We also love the modern- Asian inspired decor in the Mandarin hotels."

The two planned their modern aesthetic around a white, crème, pale yellow and pale pink palate, starting with the floor-length tulle Badgley Mischka bridesmaids dresses in buttercup hue. For Marsha, all plans for a strapless wedding gown went out the window when she laid eyes on a stunning white lace gown with halter straps, a sweet- heart neckline, and ribbon detailing by Monique Lhuillier. "I had tried on many gowns and when I tried on this gown showed it to my parents, we all knew it was 'the one.'" she says. Her equally chic groom donned a black tuxedo by Calvin Klein with a black vest and white paisley tie.

As they were welcomed into the ballroom, guests marveled at the white hydrangeas, light pink peonies and pink roses highlighted by pink spot lighting and contrasting overall amber hue produced by specially staged up-lighting. The menu of seared filet mignon, crispy Anna potatoes and red wine sauce, or vanilla-scented Chilean sea bass with braised tomato and baby fennel, Yukon potato puree and lobster roe butter pleased even the most discerning palate. A martini bar added a classic element and kept spirits high as the dance floor rocked to the highly-touted band, Beantown. In lieu of wedding favors, a donation was made to the Robert J. Woldow Memorial Scholarship fund created in memory of the groom's father. The couple looks back on the day fondly, reflecting, "I do not think there [is] one specific memory, but I think Brian and I were in awe of how everything came together perfectly."

From the start, Chad told us this wedding would be an incredible affair. Not only is the bride the daughter of Red Sox Hall of Famer, Jim Rice and his lovely wife Corinne, she happens to be gorgeous, fun and full of personality! Chad describes their up coming wedding as "a fantasy of color and details beyond the bride and groom’s wildest dreams.This show stopper is certain to be Boston's wedding of the year.” 

When Chad called Lauren Last week and said we were heading to Charlotte, North Carolina to photograph Clarissa and Andrew’s engagement pictures, she knew the day would be marvelous.

There’s nothing better then taking a day trip with an amazing friend and spending the afternoon with a beautiful couple. Thank you Chad,Carissa and Andrew for being a pleasure to work with.The day was certainly filled with lots of laughter and love.
